The West Fargo All Star Dance Team has been selected to perform at the pre-game and halftime show at the Outback Bowl in Tampa, Fla., on New Year's Day. A fundraiser is scheduled for Thursday at Cherry Berry Yogurt Bar, located at 1100 19th Ave. North in Fargo. Cherry Berry will donate a portion of its sales to help with the fundraising efforts for the trip. A second fundraiser will be held on Monday, Sept. 9, at Pizza Ranch, 4480 23rd Ave. South in Fargo. Pizza Ranch will donate a portion of its sales from dine-in, delivery and carry-out sales.
Charles Conlon Cheney, "Charlie," was born to John and Katie Cheney of Scottsdale, Ariz., on June 24, 2013, weighing in at 7 pounds and measuring 20 ½ inches long. Charlie joins two sisters, Lily and Meara. Grandparents are Chuck and Margaret Cheney, and LeRoy and Mary Kay Hagen, all of West Fargo. His great-grandmother is Audrey Cheney, East Grand Forks, Minn.
More moderate to low-income families in North Dakota will qualify for help with child care costs through the N.D. Department of Human Services' Child Care Assistance Program. North Dakota increased qualifying income levels and reduced family co-payments for the program, which helps income-eligible families pay for child care while they work or attend school or training.
The Red River Valley Fair Association has hired Emily Grunewald as the Big Iron Farm Show Exhibit Coordinator. Grunewald has extensive experience in the trade show and fair industry. Her primary responsibilities will involve Big Iron Farm Show exhibit spaces, coordination of the show schedule, and livestock shows at the Red River Valley Fair. Grunewald's prior position was at the Santa Cruz County Fair in Watsonville, Calif., where she was the Exhibit Representative. She is a partner in the Walker Ranch Cattle Company in Salinas, Calif.
Yard of the month honors for August were presented to Lute and Paula Simley, 118 50th Ave. E., West Fargo. The Three Rivers Garden Club of West Fargo coordinates the program for the residents of the community, selecting picture perfect yards through the summer and fall months based on appearance, landscaping and design.
The Mapleton Fire Department will be holding their annual Street Dance fundraiser on Saturday, Aug. 24 at Hagge's Bar & Grill, Mapleton. The band 24 Seven will be providing the music. Doors will open at 8 p.m. and remain open until 1 a.m. There is a $5 cover charge.All proceeds will benefit the Mapleton Fire Department.
