The West Fargo Historical Center is presenting an exhibit based on the theme for West Fest—Remember the Past, Envision the Future. The exhibit will feature an illustrated timeline of the history of West Fargo and include a few peeks at what lies ahead. The exhibit can be viewed during regular library hours.
Faith Lutheran Church and its second site, Journey in Faith, will host rally day on Sunday, Sept. 8 at 10 a.m. The service of worship will take place at the Journey in Faith location, 650 40th Ave. E., West Fargo, in its newly completed facility. There will be no worship services that morning at the Faith Lutheran location. The regularly scheduled service of worship on Saturday, Sept. 7, will take place at 5 p. m. at the Faith Lutheran site.
Faith Lutheran Church has expanded to two locations. Journey in Faith, the new second campus for Faith Lutheran is located at 650 40th Ave. E. in West Fargo, just west of the Sheyenne Ninth Grade Center/Sheyenne High School. Grand Opening Celebration Sundays will be Sept. 15, 22, 29 and Oct. 6h at 10 a.m. "We want everyone to be a part of this celebration," Pastor Judy Holmen stated, "so come and join us in celebrating and giving thanks to God."
The Safe Communities Coalition of the Red River Valley will honor local law enforcement officers at the 13th Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Luncheon today (Wednesday) at the Dilworth Community Center. Officers from Fargo, Moorhead, West Fargo, Cass and Clay Counties, NDSU Campus Police, and the state highway patrols of Minnesota and North Dakota will be recognized for exemplary traffic enforcement in the following areas: DUI/DWI, speed, seat belt, child restraint, and underage drinking.
St. Benedict Church of Wild Rice is hosting its annual Fall Dinner on Sunday Sept. 22 from 11 a.m .to 12:30 p.m. at 11743 38th St. S., Horace. The menu will feature ham and all th3e trimmings. There will also be special music, a silent auction, bake sale, kids activities and a train ride. Costs are $8 for adults, $5 for children 5 to 11, and children 4 and under can eat free. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The West Fargo Police Department is now accepting applications for the Fall session of the Citizens Police Academy. Classes will be held on Thursday evenings from 7 to 10 p.m. beginning Sept. 19 and continuing through Dec. 12. The program is designed to increase the understanding between the West Fargo Police Department and the citizens served. Topics include: Traffic Stops, Firearms, BOMB & SWAT teams, Drug Enforcement, Registered Offenders, Ride Alongs and much more.
Jasper Schneider, USDA Rural Development state director, has announced that two local companies have received more than $2 million in loan guarantees to support business development. They include Greal Plains Transport, Inc., Mapleton, and 4-J's Sports, Bottineau. "Without adequate capital many businesses would fail to reach their full potential," said Schneider. "Through USDA's partnership with local lenders, today's recipients were able to secure financial support to expand their companies."
Lucas Keller and Travis Bruce are the recipients of the Matt and JoAnn Butler Scholarship for Scouting of $2000. They were two of the five scholarships awarded for 2012-2013. This award is based on Scouting participation, community service, extracurricular activities, and academics. Both young men were members of Troop 274, Horace, and are Eagle Scouts. Lucas is attending NDSCS in Wahpeton, pursuing Auto Mechanics. He is the son of Rick and Sandra Keller, West Fargo.
The West Fargo Three Rivers Garden Club will meet Wednesday, Sept. 18, instead of their regular Thursday meeting night, Sept. 19, so residents can take in the Cruise Night celebration Thursday evening, signaling the beginning of West Fest. The garden club will hear a presentation on "Plant Auction and Preserving the Garden" by Julie Garden-Robinson at 7 p.m. at the West Fargo Public Works Building, 810 12th Ave. NW. Anyone with an interest in gardening is encouraged to attend and bring a guest.
Robert E. Rosenvold and David L. Wanner, an attorneys with the Ohnstad Twichell Law Firm in West Fargo, were recently selected by their peers for inclusion in the 2014 edition of The Best Lawyers in America, Rosenvold in the practice of Trusts and Estates and Wanner the practice of Real Estate Law and Trust and Estates.
