Coffee with a Cop will be held Thursday, Sept.19 at 2:30 p.m. at Sheyenne Crossings, located on the corner of 13th Avenue and Sheyenne Street in West Fargo. The program will feature Officer Pete Nielsen doing a K-9 demonstration with police dog Disco.
The West Fargo Park District is hosting the Fall Rummage Sale on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Arena, 1201 7th Ave E., West Fargo. Vendors will be selling crafts, rummage and garage sale items, clearance items, antiques, and collectibles. Insight, a local support group for persons who are blind and sight impaired in the Fargo area community, will hold its next monthly meeting on Saturday, Sept. 14, at 2 p.m. in the community room at New Horizons Manor 2525 Broadway N. Guest presenter will be Representative Josh Boschee from State Legislative District 44 who will speak about his experiences as a freshman legislator and policies of interest that were acted upon during the past legislative session in Bismarck.
Hospice of the Red River Valley will be offering an educational workshop for those who have recently experienced the death of a loved one during the month of October. Journeying Through Grief is a four-session workshop being held Thursdays, Oct. 10, 17, 24 and 31 in Fargo. All sessions will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The sessions will focus on: Understanding the grief process; Common grief reactions; Taking care of yourself while grieving; and Embracing your memories.
It's that time again for the West Fargo Community Band to get together and prepare for the West Fest Family Afternoon on Saturday, Sept. 21, with a performance scheduled for 3 p.m. at Eastwood Elementary School. There will be two rehearsals before the event to review the music from the summer concerts. Those rehearsals will take place Tuesday, Sept. 17 and Thursday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. in the West Fargo High School Band Room. People that play and were unable to join in the June concerts are welcome and encouraged to attend the rehearsals and play.

Starting in late September, the West Fargo Exchange Club update will be featuring its Student of the Month, the first of nine outstanding students from the Class of 2014 to be honored monthly for their academic and personal achievements. The student will be recognized with a photograph and a brief biography. Upcoming Events: The Exchange Club will once again be handing out flags at the West Fest Parade on on Saturday, Sept. 21. They will be assisted in this endeavor by Boy Scout Troop 279 under Master Scout Joe Rinehart.
Flame of Faith United Methodist Church, 1222 6th St. E. will be hosting Shelter Fest on Thursday, Sept. 5, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. This event was dreamed up and organized by 11 year-old Heidi Deplazes in an effort to meet the current needs of the homeless kids at Churches United. At the end of September a complete extreme makeover of the playground will be done at Churches United so the children have a place to play.
The West Fargo Historical Center is presenting an exhibit based on the theme for West Fest—Remember the Past, Envision the Future. The exhibit will feature an illustrated timeline of the history of West Fargo and include a few peeks at what lies ahead. The exhibit can be viewed during regular library hours.
