Coldwell Banker First Realty, Fargo, recently named Bryce Huotari to the role of President. Huotari joined Coldwell Banker Commercial First Realty in 2001 as a sales professional and became manager of the commercial division in 2012. A graduate of the University of North Dakota, Huotari holds a bachelor's degree in Business and Public Administration, double-majoring in Marketing and Management. Huotari is a licensed real estate agent in North Dakota and Minnesota and attained the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation in 2006.
The West Fargo Soccer Club has reached a personal milestone with its U19B "FC Packers" team, which played in its first tournament, the Tri-City Tournament in Fargo, on Sunday, June 30. The U19B team is the first entire team to be formed from "new Americans" and those waiting to become American citizens. The team is made up of 14 players from Nepal and three from Somalia. They range from ages 15 to 19 and all are West Fargo students.
Travis and Jessica Magnuson, West Fargo, are the parents of a son, Cooper, born June 27, 2013 at 2:49 p.m. at Essentia Health, Fargo. He weighed 7 pounds 7 ounces and was 21 ½ inches long. Cooper joins a sister, Kellen. Grandparents are David and Robyn Holm and Lyle and Wendy Magnuson, all of Fargo and David and Candace Pearson, West Fargo. Allen Holm, Fargo, is the great-grandfather.
Annual StreetsAlive! energizing summer events promise to spark movement in area communities. In downtown Fargo-Moorhead, three miles of streets through both cities will be closed to cars to encourage walking, running, biking, rollerblading, dancing and other human movement. Special events, demonstrations and vendor booths spill over into parking lots and parks along the route. People may join in StreetsAlive! activities anywhere along the route.
The Home Builders Association of Fargo-Moorhead has received two Awards of Excellence from the Executive Officers Council of the National Association of Home Builders: "Best Public Relations Program Conducted - 2012 Permit Reports/News Conferences" and "Best Local Government Affairs Effort - Candidate Forums and Legislative Candidate Open House." The awards will be presented during the NAHB Association Leadership Institute conference in August in Portland, Ore.

More than 12,000 walkers and runners showed up Saturday for the Run or Dye 5K at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds. Participants enjoyed a colorful good time, all the while making for an almost record breaking event in terms of numbers, coming in only second in attendance to the San Diego Run or Dye race. The event is unique in that colors are key -- with pink, purple, yellow, green, blue, red packets flying everywhere. The YMCA of Cass and Clay Counties partnered with Run or Dye officials to host the event, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the YMCA's Livestrong program.
The West Fargo Park District's Farmers Market and Beyond is scheduled to open on Monday July 8. Items for sale will include fresh produce, herbs, breads, jams, jellies, flowers, home based business products and handcrafted items will also be for sale. Summer market hours are: Mondays and Thursdays, July 8 through Oct. 3 from 4 to 7 p.m. The market is located at South Elmwood Park parking lot, 500 13th Ave. W.t, West Fargo. The Farmers Market is open to area produce growers, home crafters and other agriculture products. Booth spaces are $15 per day.
Scott and Stacie Platfers, Fargo, are the parents of a daughter, Jemma Kay, June 21, 2013 at 12:38 p.m. at Essentia Health. She weighed 8 pounds 6 ounces and was 19 inches long. Jemma joins a sister and brother, Shelby and Ryker. Grandparents are Deb Godfredsen, Armstrong, Iowa, and Shirley Platfers, West Fargo. Great-grandparents are Buddy and Margaret Anderson, Armstrong, Iowa. Jade and Heidi Brown, Horace, are the parents of a son, Liam, born June 22, 2013 at 10:36 a.m.at Sanford Health, Fargo. He weighed 9 pounds 8 ounces and measured 21 inches.\
A benefit spaghetti dinner and silent auction for Mike Steidl, of West Fargo, will take place on Wednesday, July 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church Crossway Center, 1420 16th St. E. Steidl was diagnosed in May of 2011 with acute myeloid leukemia and has been in out and of the hospital ever since. A longtime West Fargo resident, Steidl has been a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church since 1989 and a member of the Knights of Columbus for 23 years. He work3ed for the railroad for 42 1;/2 years before retiring.
