FARGO — A third Aldi store appears headed for the Fargo-Moorhead metro area.
A building permit application was filed with the city of Fargo last week to construct a "new building for use as a grocery store" at 3760 51st Ave. S. The application lists Aldi as the establishment and gives a projected construction cost of $2.75 million.
Matt Lilla, Aldi's Faribault division vice president, confirmed a third location to The Forum in a statement issued late Monday, May 20.
"We are excited to confirm we plan to open another store in the Fargo area in 2020. However, it is too soon to share any other details at this time," Lilla said.
The metro area's first Aldi store opened in November 2017 at 833 34th St. N. in Dilworth.
Fargo's first Aldi is set to open next month just east of the Burlington Coat Factory, 4305 13th Ave. S. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for 8:25 a.m. June 20, followed by Aldi's popular Golden Ticket giveaway, where Aldi's first 100 customers receive a gift card. Shoppers can also enter a sweepstakes for a chance to win a year's supply of ALDI produce.
