A new restaurant, shops and a seven-story condominium complex will be coming soon to a new development in southwest Fargo, on the other side of a major West Fargo roadway.
Veterans Square, a $30 million planned development on the northeast corner of the intersection of 40th Avenue South and Veterans Boulevard, could start to go up soon, said Kelly Parrett, broker and director of sales for Lexstar Realty, who said final plans were delivered late last week.
Lexstar's CEO and President Robert Leslie said in an interview last month that the company bought the property in 2015.
He said it's an attractive location for housing because of its close proximity to several new West Fargo schools, including Sheyenne High School across Veterans Boulevard. The intentional development of the property all at once also means all the buildings will complement each other, he said.
The project includes four retail buildings-three multi-tenant structures and a standalone building that could house a restaurant-in addition to a separate seven-story condo building that will offer 29 "upper-end" units ranging from 2,500 to 2,800 square feet, Leslie said.
Parrett said several businesses are expected to lease retail space, including a Papa Murphy's pizza place, a nail salon, a coffee shop and an upscale hair salon.
Parrett said construction is slated to begin soon, with the first retail tenant expected to move in this September. Work on the $18 million condo building also is expected to start soon and should take about 18 months to complete.
The entire project is expected to be done within the next two years, adding what Leslie called well-designed retail buildings and condos to the rapidly growing area not far from Sanford Health's new hospital. The condo complex will boast two floors of parking, concrete walls, floors and ceilings for better safety and privacy, a rooftop patio with a hot tub, an exercise room and a glass elevator, according to Parrett.
