A new “next generation” Cash Wise Foods store, emphasizing fresh foods and convenience, will hold its grand opening Tuesday, July 24, in Fargo’s Timber Creek development.

The store at 4907 Timber Parkway S. was a beehive of activity Monday, as workers stocked shelves, iced cookies, put up signs, laid sod, and dozens of other tasks.

“These days, more than ever, people are looking to get back some of their time,” said Kevin Hurd, a spokesman for St. Cloud-based Coborn’s, the parent company of Cash Wise.

Shoppers will have plenty of grab-and-go and meal kit options, Hurd said.

“The next generation concept stores are really appealing to families that are on the go. They will have a lot of options to “put into the oven or the grill and they’re good to go” timesavers, Hurd said.

When shoppers come in the southside main entrance, they’re greeted by a colorful flower shop and a large “Farmer’s Market” of fruits and vegetables. A “Chop Shoppe” area gives customers the convenience of having fruit and vegetables cut and sliced before they walk out of the store, as well as a wide selection of pre-cut fruit and vegetables and freshly-squeezed juices.

On the east side of the store is a Dunn Brothers coffee shop, which not only has seating for dozens of people, but a drive-through, too.

“We’re trying to be a destination,” Hurd said.

The store is in a growing commercial district east of Interstate 29 and north of 52nd Avenue South. Other than a Walmart to the west, no other nearby grocery stores serve that rapidly growing part of south Fargo.

Store Director Greg Jaroszewski has been working for Coborn’s for 30 years, most of that time in the F-M area.

“It’s great to support the community as Fargo grows south,” Jaroszewski said. “Fargo-Moorhead has been good to us, and in return, we’d like to be good to them.”

On the east side of the main store is a gas island and a free-standing car wash. To the southeast is a free-standing Cash Wise Liquor store.

A bakery greets customers at the east entrance, with a brick oven pizza area, and a full deli a few steps further into the store.

“We’re trying to make it a one-stop area,” Hurd said.

The overhead lighting is brighter, some of the flooring is wood, and the signage is clean and inviting.

The main grocery aisles also include sections with soft accent lighting to draw customers to popular items.

Overall, it’s a softer, cleaner, less industrial, more welcoming look for the newest full-service grocery store in Fargo-Moorhead.

“It’s kind of really different look,” Hurd said.

A Cash Wise Delivers service will become available later this summer, Hurd said.

The store opens 6 a.m. Tuesday, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:30 a.m.

There will be food sampling 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3:30-6:30 p.m. Live entertainment is planned 3:30 to 6 p.m., Hurd said.

It’s the fourth Cash Wise store in the F-M market. Other stores are at 3300 U.S. Highway 10, Moorhead; 1401 33rd St. S., Fargo; and 755 33rd Ave. E., West Fargo (corner of Veterans Boulevard and 32nd Avenue South.).
