FARGO-Fargo-Moorhead's last remaining KMart has escaped another round of store closures.
On Monday, Oct. 15, Sears Holding Corp. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection from creditors and announced plans to close 142 underperforming Sears and KMart stores by the end of the year. Neither Fargo's store on University Drive South nor the Grand Forks KMart were included on a list of stores expected to close. In Minnesota, the retailer will close Sears stores at 12431 Wayzata Blvd in Minnetonka and at 425 Rice Street in St. Paul. Liquidation sales are expected to begin soon.
These closings are indition to 45 others announced earlier this year. The Grand Forks Sears store was included in that round of closures.
