Jeremiah Program earns outstanding rating on level 2 of state’s quality rating system
Jeremiah Program Fargo-Moorhead has earned the second of four cohort designations from Bright & Early North Dakota, the state’s quality rating system. Less than a year since its level 1/health and safety designation, the team earned level 2/space and materials designation and an outstanding rating. Early care and education programs are rated by Bright & Early North Dakota based on specific standards that define quality. Bright & Early North Dakota promotes high-quality early learning for young children and provides a quality rating that guides families seeking the best program for their child. Programs that join Bright & Early exceed basic licensing standards for child care, and must complete an intensive observation process. Programs can achieve up to 4 stars as they commit to, improve and maintain quality. They do this through an evaluation of several quality standards including 1) taking extra steps in health & safety, 2) creating an environment that inspires learning through play, 3) developing activities that encourage language, creativity, science and other skills, 4) providing nurturing relationships and positive interactions with children. Through voluntary enrollment in Bright & Early North Dakota, Jeremiah Program has access to several tools including: • Technical assistance – a trained coach shares feedback and provides assistance to help providers meet the quality standards. • Accountability – programs gain recognition and resources for demonstrating how the meet the standards via formal observations. • Revenue – when programs demonstrate they meet the quality standards, they receive dollars to re-invest into their program to improve services, retain staff and expand capacity. • Consumer information – a tool provided to parents that enables them to compare early childhood education options to find the best option for their children.
