Moore Engineering's Lysne named ACEC Young Professional of the Year
Kurt Lysne was named a 2018 Young Professional of the Year by the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC). He is one of only five nationwide to receive the honor.
Lysne is the water resources group leader at Moore Engineering, where he's worked since graduating from North Dakota State University with a degree in civil engineering. He is a licensed professional engineer in North Dakota and Minnesota, and a certified floodplain manager.
"Kurt is an excellent engineer - consistently precise, thorough and exacting in his expectations of himself and others," said Jeffry Volk, Moore Engineering CEO. "He has developed himself into a regional expert on flood control and FEMA certification, understanding floodplain issues like few others. This is a well-deserved honor for him."
Kevin Bucholz, Moores president, is just as impressed by Lysnes human skills as his technical expertise. "Kurt is a fantastic supervisor and engineer because he listens and seeks to understand. His goal is to deliver experiences to his group and to his clients that delight them."
Lysne says its his coworkers who motivate him to give it his best. "Engineering is special because our projects improve the lives and livelihoods of so many," he said. "And thats very satisfying as a career choice. What makes it even more special is that Im surrounded by a group of employee owners at Moore who push each other and take care of each other. Its like a family here."
