Scholarship available for young North Dakota writers aspiring to be journalists
FARGO — The Anne Krapu-HPR Journalism Scholarship Foundation announced Wednesday, Aug. 15, that it will award financial and mentoring support to one or two young North Dakota writers who are interested in becoming journalists.
The scholarship, created by Fargo-based alternative newspaper High Plains Reader and Madeline Luke and Gary Krapu of Valley City, N.D., is named after Anne Krapu, who died unexpectedly in January at age 31. Krapu began her writing career at 16 and wrote about pop culture, politics, social justice and other issues for several outlets.
