City of Horace Introduces New Community Development Director
The City of Horace has hired its first Community Development Director. Matt Lower comes to Horace from Spokane, Washington, where he was a Senior Planner for the Kalispel Tribe in the northeastern corner of the state.
"Matt is an excellent addition to our team. As the Community Development Director, he will play an important role in planning, directing, managing, and overseeing city planning, community, building inspection, and code enforcement activities, along with assisting with economic development," says Brenton Holper, Horace City Administrator.
Lower earned a Masters Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Eastern Washington University and a Bachelors Degree in Anthropology from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Prior to his most recent position, he worked for the City of Spokane and coauthored a Historic Preservation Plan for the City of Colfax, Washington.
"We are putting a lot of thought into the future of Horace. Were getting started on a Comprehensive Plan that will lay the groundwork for future residential and commercial growth. The creation of the Community Development Director position is part of our investment in the future of Horace. Its an exciting time to live here," says Mayor Kory Peterson.
Horace is located approximately three miles south of West Fargo. The City has seen tremendous growth as a result of overall growth in the region. In the last two decades, the population has increased to nearly 2,700 residents from about 900 in the year 2000.
