First Step Recovery in Fargo adds to staff
First Step Recovery, a program of The Village Family Service Center, is pleased to announce several recent hires and promotions. These staff changes have allowed First Step to expand its outpatient treatment programs for substance use disorders, including the addition of a daytime Intensive Outpatient Program.
Joining First Step are Amanda Ellingson, Nicolette Halvorson, and Justin Chase.
Ellingson is a Registered Nurse. She performs patient evaluations, intakes and screenings, provides health and medication education to patients, and monitors medication use. She received her nursing degree from M State in Moorhead and has 11 years experience working with mental illness and substance abuse in all ages.
Halvorson earned her Master of Arts in Psychology at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. She is a Licensed Addiction Counselor (ND) and Licensed Professional Counselor (MN) and is knowledgeable about addiction, dual diagnosis, and trauma. Halvorson has previously worked as an assessment clinician, family skills therapist, and addiction technician.
Chase earned a Bachelor of Science in Addiction Services from Minot State University, and is pursuing his LAC. He supports patients in First Steps evening Intensive Outpatient Program.
Adam Priebnow, Licensed Addiction Counselor, now leads First Steps daytime IOP. He is a Licensed Addiction Counselor and graduate of Minnesota State University Moorhead, and has been with First Step since 2014.
Mary Jo Hansen has been promoted to Clinical Supervisor of First Step. In that role, she provides supervision to staff, works to enhance and develop groups and programming, and provides individual and group therapy. Hansen is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Addiction Counselor, and received her masters degree in Counseling from North Dakota State University. Shes been part of the First Step team since 2012.
