South Dakota-based ice cream parlor to open up shop in former downtown Fargo Metro Drug building

Silver Lining Creamery is coming to Fargo. Special to The Forum

FARGO—Silver Lining Creamery, an ice cream parlor that makes its own ice cream, plans to set up shop soon in downtown Fargo in a space formerly occupied by Metro Drug.

The original Silver Lining is located in Rapid City, S.D.

This coming summer will be the creamery's fifth summer in business, according to Michelle Pulling, who owns the company with her two sons.

The Fargo location at 123 Broadway is expected to open in a few months, according to Pulling, who said Fargo will be the second store for Silver Lining.

She said the name reflects the motivation behind the business, which is to emphasize the positive in any situation, something Pulling said ice cream helps to do.

Silver Lining specializes in making its own specialty flavors, according to Pulling, who said an ice cream honoring the Bison is planned. She declined to go into detail about ingredients, stating that will be publicized when the Fargo shop gets closer to opening.

"We make fun flavors," Pulling said, citing a creation called maple candied bacon as one example. "It is 14 percent premium butter fat ice cream, so it is the real deal," she added.
