WEST FARGO - Green Therapy Center is bringing its own brand of CBD products to the Fargo-Moorhead area.

The area’s latest purveyor of CBD balms, tinctures, roll-ons and gummies recently opened at 816 24th Ave E Suite 112, in the same mall as The Piggy BBQ and Nothing Bundt Cakes.

Manager and operating partner Justin Kolling said Green Therapy's CBD is sourced exclusively from the Midwest, much of it from southern Minnesota.

“We keep everything local. We want to know that the stuff we’re getting is from this area,” Kolling said Friday, July 17.

“Everything on our shelves is tested and has certificates of analysis,” he said.

For cannabis products, such laboratory-issued documents include a product’s total list of cannabinoids, terpenes, possible contaminants (pesticides, heavy metals) and microorganisms.

Green Therapy also has its own brand, Hone, which includes full spectrum and targeted formulations of CBD products. The brand was created by owner Jared Day of Mankato, Minn., Kolling said.

“If you have an issue, we can hone in on it” to maximize therapeutic benefits, Kolling said.

CBD stands for cannabidiol. It is derived directly from the hemp plant, but doesn’t cause a “high.” There is evidence it helps in treating some childhood epilepsy syndromes. It is also used for anxiety, insomnia, and may help with chronic pain, Harvard Medical School reports.

CBD is legal in North Dakota, as long as it comes from legally produced hemp and has no more than 0.3% THC (tetrahydrocannabinol, the chemical in marijuana that causes a high).

Green Therapy also offers education on CBD products, including a room where customers can get up close and personal with hemp plants as they grow under lights, periodically tousled by a fan to mimic winds that would force a plant to grow stronger.

Seeing and touching the plants helps customers understand the product and puts them at ease, Assistant Manager Lorraine Thompson said.

“Come in, touch it, smell it, see where it starts from. It’s not scary. It’s just another plant. But it has all these benefits,” Thompson said. “It definitely gets people more comfortable.”

The store is a large, airy space, so customers can be served well apart from each other. There’s also room to expand the store’s stock, particularly if marijuana is someday legalized in North Dakota, Kolling said.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

No prescriptions or appointments are needed, Thompson said.

“This is kind of a lifestyle thing. We want to keep you coming back … and be your CBD coach,” Kolling said. “We want to make you a lifelong customer."
