FARGO - Oktoberfest in Fargo was sunny and 60+ degrees in 2017, but it looks like 2018 is going to be a different story.
It kicks off at the Pickled Parrot at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, with a free hog dog and chip when you buy your first beer mug of the day. At that time, it's expected to be 36 degrees. The rest of the events throughout the day won't have the temperature getting higher than 40 degrees.
The owner of the Pickled Parrot, Rob Johnson, has no concerns about the turnout regardless of the weather.
"We don't have any concern, people will come out big. It's been like this in past and it keeps them inside longer, which is good for us," Johnson said. "It's a great time for people to get there early and stay warm."
Johnson and the Pickled Parrot have been a part of Oktoberfest Fargo for seven years, and he holds a strong adoration for the event.
"It's just a great atmosphere. People are respectful, having a good time and they don't go overboard or cause issues. Just good people having a good time," Johnson said.
The tapping of the keg and bar crawl begins in downtown Fargo at 1 p.m. Other events include brat sampling and running of the wieners, a wiener dog race outside of The Old Broadway.
