The Cass County 4-H Consumer Choices junior and senior judging teams took part in the North Dakota State Consumer Choices Judging Contest held virtually July 21.

Cass County had three junior teams representing 4-H during this year's contest.

Green junior team members were:

  • Sydney Schulz, West Fargo
  • Brody Engelstad, West Fargo
  • Logan Engelstad, West Fargo
  • Nora Severance, Hunter

Yellow junior team members were:

  • Elsa Axtman, Fargo
  • Grace Burchill, Fargo
  • Aubrey Delaney, Fargo

Blue team members were:

  • Lam Le, Fargo
  • Norah Schroeder, Fargo
  • Emma Bueng, Fargo

Elsa Axtman and Sydney Schulz both received individual honors, tying for third place. Grace Burchill placed fifth and Nora Severance placed seventh.

The Cass County junior yellow team finished second overall among teams, and the green team placed third.

Senior team members were:

  • Linnea Axtman, Fargo
  • Nolan Severance, Hunter
  • Zachary Schroeder, Fargo

Linnea Axtman and Nolan Severance earned individual honors, finishing third and 10th, respectively. The senior team placed fourth overall.

Extension agent Rita Ussatis coached the teams.

Consumer choices judging, a 4-H consumer activity, is an exercise in decision-making. Classes included in this state contest were active wear, beverages and cellphones.
