Community members gathered for a celebration of musical and visual art at ChalkFest on Thursday at the Red River Zoo in Fargo.
The all-day event offered free admission to the zoo for live music and activities. Guests were also provided with their own chalk and encouraged to create art, regardless of their artistic abilities.
“In addition to encouraging everyone that visits the zoo to create their own art, we have professional artists outside doing these really fantastic pieces that are gonna be here until it rains again,” said Red River Zoo Executive Director Sally Jacobson.
“It’s something that happens once a year and then it’s gone,” she said. “But it’s beautiful and it’s colorful while it’s going on. We look forward to it every year.”
