Students in the Intro to teaching profession class at Sheyenne High School are hosting a book drive for the Little Red Reading Bus, a mobile initiative that provides children with access to books during the summer.
The intro to teaching profession course is taught by Mary Anderson, Sheyenne High School family and consumer science teacher, and is a study of the teaching profession, including historical, philosophical and social foundations of education.
Students receive opportunities to apply information and skills through peer-teaching activities and a required 30-hour field experience at an elementary or secondary school. Emphasis is placed upon the skills needed to prepare pre-service teachers to become knowledgeable decision makers in the field of education.
The class has set a goal to collect 300 new or gently used books for children of all ages. Those interested in donating books can drop them off at Sheyenne High School or the Leidal Education Center through Nov. 8.
Donations must be free of personal information and writing and cannot be discarded library books.
