Justin Minyard, retired U.S. Army Master Sergeant, will share his story of chronic pain and recovery at the West Fargo VFW at 5 p.m., Tuesday Feb. 25.

Minyard will share his philosophy on a balanced approach to pain management while providing information and hope to those suffering with chronic pain.

All are welcome to this free event sponsored by Center for Pain Medicine. A light dinner will be served. Space is limited. Please RSVP to 701-367-5304.

A Purple Heart and Bronze Star for Valor recipient, Minyard’s military career includes eight tours in Afghanistan and Iraq, interrogating terrorists, and protecting two U.S. presidents.

As a first responder at the 9/11 Pentagon attacks, Minyard sustained a back injury while moving huge pieces of rubble in search of survivors. Later, he fell 20 meters during a combat mission. Multiple surgeries later, Minyard found himself at rock bottom, addicted to opioid pain killers. Minyard became the founder of Operation Shifting Gears, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving injured and disabled veterans.
