On Monday, March 16, the West Fargo Library cancelled all upcoming events, programs, delivery of materials to offsite locations and meeting room reservations until further notice. This will not impact the library’s regular hours of operation. This decision was made in order to be in step with North Dakota schools as they encourage youth and families to practice social distancing during school closures beginning March 16, 2020.
“As the library provides numerous events for youth and seniors, we have decided to cancel our in-person programs and events that encourage group congregation until further notice,” Library Director Carissa Hansen said in a statement.
The library building, however, will maintain its regular hours of operation at this time. Patrons will still be able to check out and return materials, use library technology. Staff are taking extra care to clean and disinfect common areas and high-touch surfaces and to maintain their own hygiene. Staff who feel ill have been directed to stay home. The library also offers many online services which can be found at .
The West Fargo Public Library is working closely with fellow departments to monitor the situation surrounding COVID-19 and to devise plans for response that are in the best interest of public safety, while continuing to provide public services.
