FARGO — Musicians in the area are ready to get "Classy, Flashy and Trashy" this Monday night.

The Community Orchestra Academy is putting on "Classy, Flashy and Trashy: a Momentous Musicale," at Fargo's Peace Lutheran Church, 1011 12th Ave. N., at 7 p.m. Monday, June 17.

The purpose of the concert is to introduce Fargo, West Fargo and Moorhead to the newly formed Community Orchestra Academy, a nonprofit for students in kindergarten through 12th grade who want to become orchestral musicians.

The academy has two purposes, systematically training students to become both orchestral and chamber-music musicians and offering college preparatory courses in music theory, aural skills and piano for any student aspiring to become a music major or minor in college. Minnesota State University Moorhead is the host institution. Ensembles will form in the fall, and classes will begin in early 2020.

The concert is free and open to the public. For more information about the academy, email Earnest Lamb at earnest.lamb@mnstate.edu.
