FARGO – The 13th annual “Gobble It Up for United Way” lunch, hosted by all Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo Horbacher’s locations, will be held Wednesday, Sept. 9.
For a suggested $5 donation, which will benefit United Way of Cass-Clay, lunches include a Jennie-O hot turkey sandwich on a fresh Hornbacher’s bun, Frito Lay chips, a Kemps frozen treat, and a Pepsi or Aquafina beverage.
Traditionally hosted in June, the benefit will be transitioned into a “takeout lunch event,” according to a press release, due to the coronavirus pandemic. To ensure safety, no seating will be available and all Hornbacher’s staff will be wearing masks when lunches are distributed.
Preorders are encouraged, but not required. Patrons can also stop by any Hornbacher’s location for a lunch to go. The deadline to preorder is 5 p.m. Sept. 4.
“Although you might not be working in the office together, you can still treat your employees to lunch by preordering a quantity of vouchers for them to pick up a lunch at the Hornbacher’s of their choice,” according to a release. “Simply prepay for the total number of meals needed for your team and we will provide vouchers for you to distribute to your team members to redeem for lunch. This is a great way to honor and recognize your team members for all they have done to positively contribute during this time in our community.”
The annual lunch benefit will be preceded by the United Way's virtual campaign kickoff watch party from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 2.
United Way promises to offer a special challenge in 2020.
“An opportunity to defy the odds,” according to a release. “We invite you to learn more and be inspired by real stories of how investments are solving our community’s most complex issues and helping children and families achieve the dreams they never thought possible. When we LIVE UNITED, we can create the change our community needs.”
There is no cost to attend, but registration is required by Thursday, Aug. 27. The virtual watch party will be streamed live from the Avalon Events Center.
“All are welcome,” according to press notes. “We encourage you to invite friends and coworkers to join the Virtual Watch Party. This is a great reason to gather virtually or in-person over the lunch-hour, share a meal, and be a part of this exciting community event.”
