Annual brunch scheduled at Presentation Prayer Center

FARGO — The Presentation Prayer Center is hosting its 34th annual brunch at the Holiday Inn, 3803 13th Ave. S., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7.

The church will be renewed in the power of the spirit as individuals embrace again the ancient practice of pilgrimage through "The Pilgrim's Compass — Finding and Following God in a Season of Change" led by Paul H. Lang, head of staff at First Presbyterian Church and executive director of the Institute of Church Renewal.

World Community Day celebration on Nov. 1

FARGO — The community is invited to attend a World Community Day celebration hosted by Church Women United beginning at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at Plymouth Congregational Church, 901 Broadway N.

The program "The Time is Now — Resolve to Love" will be presented and special guests include Fauzia Haider and Ellen Mahli of the FM Interfaith Board. Installation of officers will also take place at this event.

First United Methodist Church offers retirement workshops

FARGO — The First United Methodist Church, 906 First Ave., is hosting two retirement workshops.

The "Pre-Retirement" event is 12:45-2:45 p.m Sunday, Oct. 27, in the church chapel. Topics include getting started with Social Security and Medicare, setting goals for retirement and expectations and adjustments. A panel of recent retirees will also share their experiences in preparing for their own retirements. This workshop will also feature a potluck meal before the event, beginning at noon, in the Fellowship Hall.

"Finding Meaning and Purpose in Retirement" will begin at 12:45 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, in the chapel. This workshop will focus on seeking purpose in retirement and volunteer possibilities. A panel of retirees will also share their joys and adjustments in their retirements. A light meal will be served beginning at noon in the Fellowship Hall and a freewill offering will be accepted.

These events are free and open to the community.

Dessert Banquet focuses on controversial topic

FARGO — The 2019 FM Area Lutherans for Life Dessert Banquet will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1258 Broadway N.

Following the theme "Did God Really Say...?," guest speaker Virginia Flo will address a variety of life issues — with an emphasis in the area of physician-assisted suicide. An opportunity to support will also be presented.
