FARGO - RibFest is one of the biggest events to kick off the summer in Fargo.
Gates opened at 11 am Wednesday.
This year there are seven rib cookers competing and the Forum talked with two: Lauren Vega Owner of Cowboys Barbecue and Rib Company and Dan Johnson of Johnson's Bar-B-Que. Both are veterans of RibFest.
Johnson said Fargo has one of the best lunchtime crowds in the whole country. Vega and her husband took over Cowboys from her father, Dallas Green who retired.
"He didn't want it to leave the family and I didn't either because I was out in this industry since I was four-years-old," Vega said. "So we want to be able to carry that legacy on for future barbecuers."
RibFest runs through Saturday.
