WEST FARGO — Police are warning the public to exercise caution after getting a report of a large cat and cub spotted near the Sheyenne River in West Fargo.

Officers were dispatched to an area near 2600 block of Rivers Bend Drive just after noon after getting the report of the sighting, according to a news release from the West Fargo Police Department.

Police investigated the area for about an hour and were not able to find any animals matching the description from the call.

Police ask that anyone who spots the animals avoid approaching or harassing them and call 911 immediately.

The West Fargo Police Department said it has been in contact with the North Dakota Department of Game and Fish about the sighting.
