WEST FARGO — An 8-year-old boy hit by an SUV while riding his bike across the street near West Fargo's L.E. Berger Elementary School on June 12 got a generous donation from the emergency crews who responded to the crash scene.

The West Fargo Police Department paid a visit to the hospital, Wednesday, June 19, and brought Donte Bravecrow a brand new bike, helmet and a new pair of shoes.

Bravecrow had said earlier in the week that he hoped to get a bike once he recovered so he could ride again later in the summer.

Bravecrow's family said it believes a helmet saved the boy's life in the crash. On Tuesday he was out of intensive care and is recovering at Sanford Children's Hospital.
