June 30, 1999 would be the last day of Superintendent Marvin Leidal’s 39-year career with the West Fargo School District.
As Superintendent, Leidal oversaw the fastest growing school district in North Dakota for 20 years. At the School Board meeting on Monday, June 28, the board voted unanimously to name the new administration building the Leidal Education Center. The building was scheduled to be completed in December.
At the June 28, 2004 West Fargo School Board meeting the Board mixed business with celebration.
They voted unanimously to rename the first West Fargo High School that later became a middle school in honor of “Mr. West Fargo” the Clayton A. Lodoen Community Center. Lodoen had served West Fargo as mayor for 20 years, state legislator and state senator for 12 years. The Center would house the West Fargo Public Library, Chamber of Commerce, and some school functions. They closed with cake and coffee in recognition of Ilene Lodoen’s 82nd birthday.
