The West Fargo Police Department has hired new officers.

They are:

Officer Grant R. Richardson

Originally from Harlan, Iowa, Richardson graduated from Bemidji (Minn.) High School in 2011. He graduated from North Dakota State University in 2014 with a major in sports management and a minor in emergency management. He completed the Police Academy through Lake Region State College in 2015. Richardson was hired by the West Fargo Police Department as a patrol officer in October 2015.

Officer Matthew J. Oldham

Originally from West Fargo, Oldham graduated from West Fargo High School. He attended Moorhead Area Vocational Technical Institute and Lake Region State College, Devils Lake, graduating from the police officer program in 2015. He was in the Cass County Sheriff’s Reserve for five years. Oldham was hired by the West Fargo Police Department as a patrol officer in December 2015.

Officer Joseph W. Solberg

Solberg grew up in Fargo and graduated from Fargo North High School in 2006. He was an infantryman in the Marines from 2006-2011 and was deployed to Afghanistan for eight months. He graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He attended the Alexandria Technical College’s police skills training program in summer 2014. He worked for the Clay County Jail and Glyndon (Minn.) Police Department in 2015 and is in the Air National Guard. He was hired by the West Fargo Police Department as a patrol officer in January.

Officer Austin J. Bagley

Bagley grew up in Beach, N.D., and graduated from Beach High School in 2009. He graduated from North Dakota State University in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He attended Lake Region State College’s police officer training during the summer of 2013. He was a deputy for the Williams County Sheriff’s Office for two years. Bagley was hired by the West Fargo Police Department as a patrol officer in January.

Community Service Officer Annie J. Burthold

Originally from Grand Forks, Burthold graduated from Red River High School. She was in the Coast Guard for two years before graduating with a biology education degree from North Dakota State University in 2014. She was a park ranger for Lake Sakakawea State Park and Turtle River State Park. Burthold was hired in February by the West Fargo Police Department for the new position of community service officer.
