FARGO - Today, NDSU hosted an on-campus discussion.
Following a documentary about opiates, North Dakota first lady Kathryn Helgaas Burgum shared her personal struggle with addiction.
And a panel of experts addressed how opiates are affecting health care, education and the legal system.
U.S. Attorney Chris Myers said, "Anyone in this room has the ability and opportunity to make a difference. And if we're going to actually reduce deaths and overdoses, we all have to pitch in."
The first lady also praised efforts to bring a methadone clinic to Fargo.
The addiction recovery clinic should open later this year.
