FARGO - What started as a report of a gas station drive-off turned into a stolen vehicle pursuit reaching speeds of 105 mph on Wednesday, Nov. 1, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
A trooper tried to pull over 36-year-old Thomas Hibpshman, of West Fargo, after the complaint was made from a Hillsboro gas station, the patrol said.
Driving a stolen Pontiac Grand Am, Hibpshman fled onto gravel roads in Traill County before taking Interstate 29 into Cass County, the patrol said.
Troopers used tire-deflation devices to stop Hibpshman on a gravel road 2 miles west of Hardwood about 4:20 p.m.
Hibpshman was arrested on suspicion of possessing stolen property, fleeing law enforcement, driving with a suspended license and theft of fuel. He also had outstanding warrants, the patrol said.
Charges are pending for a 32-year-old female passenger the patrol did not identify.
