Special Events

North Dakota Beer Display: Jan. 15 — May 15. Visit the balcony of the library to see an exhibit of rare North Dakota beer collectibles owned by Royce Granlund of Hickson.

Laid-Back Winter Book Club: Jan. 8 — March 20. Read the book, enjoy the cocoa, complete the comment card and return. Each returned comment card entitles reader to enter a drawing for a free coffee gift card. Prizes drawn March 20, the first day of Spring. Prizes courtesy of the Friends of the Library.

WWII Movie Month — "Dunkirk": 1 p.m. Thursday. World War II thriller about the evacuation of British troops from the beaches at Dunkirk, France. Free movie and popcorn. Rated PG-13.

Coding for Kids!: 1 p.m. Friday. Kids in kindergarten and up are welcome to participate in this one-hour introduction to computer science with hundreds of online coding activities to choose from. No experience is required. Laptops will be provided, but kids are also invited to bring their own laptops. Advanced registration for this event is requested. New Release Movie — "Dunkirk": 2 p.m. Saturday. Free movie and popcorn. Rated PG-13.

Technology Class — Intro to Microsoft Word: 1 p.m. Tuesday. Learn how to use Libby, the newest app from OverDrive, to access eBooks and eAudiobooks from the library. Bring a tablet or use one of the library's iPads. Space is limited. Please register at the service desk or by calling (701)433-5460. Free.

Regular Events

Friday Morning Movie — "Beauty and the Beast": 10:30 a.m. Friday. Disney's "Beauty and the Beast." Free movie and popcorn. Rated PG.

Genealogy: Noon to 4 p.m. Saturday. Bring projects or just ask questions.

The Next Chapter Book Club: 7 p.m. Monday. "The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend" by Katarina Bivald. Stop by the service desk for an available copy and discussion questions. No registration. Free and open to the public.

Simply Stories: 10:15 a.m. Tuesday. This session is geared for lap babies and preschoolers and is just stories — no crafts. For stories and simple make-and-take crafts, visit the library at 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Registration is not required.

Storytime with a Craft: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Story times are geared for preschool through first grade age children and their caretakers. Daycares are welcome, but for groups larger than five, please call ahead at (701) 433-5460. Registration is not required.

Twisted Stitchers: 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Join this fun group for an evening of knitting or crochet. Come with your own supplies. Not for beginners, but tips will be given to knitters and crocheters needing help. No pre-registration required.

Ham Radio — RRRA: 7 p.m. Wednesday. Sessions are open to adults and accompanied children interested in learning more about Ham radio.

Upcoming Events

Luck of the Irish: 10:30 a.m. March 17. Make a pot of gold, a shamrock hat, and enjoy a green snack and drink. Supplies are limited, so registration is requested. Free.

Pine Needle Sew and Chat: 1 p.m. March 17. Afternoon of pine needle basket making. Not intended for beginners, but tips will be given to basket makers needing help. Coordinated by Mary Marohl. Free and open to the public.

Gardening Event — New Breeding and Improved Genetics for Annuals: 1:30 p.m. March 17 at the West Fargo Public Works Building, 810 12th Ave NW. Free and open to the public.

Lego Mania: 6:30 p.m. March 19. Program is free and open to all ages.

The afterschool program will be open Monday through Friday (when school is in session) from 3-5:30 p.m.
