WAHPETON, N.D. - The Mildred Johnson Library on the North Dakota State College of Science campus in Wahpeton has stopped checking out books to the public, only students and faculty.
Library patrons can read the books and newspapers and use the free wifi, Chief Information Officer Cloy Tobola said, however, they can no longer check out books.
“The public can come in and read anything they like,” Tobola said.
General public patrons are encouraged to see if the Leach Public Library in Wahpeton.
According to NDSCS, those moves were done for streamlining.
“In this age of limited budgets, we realized there was a duplication of services between the Johnson and Leach libraries,” Tobola said. “We realized we were taking away patrons from the Leach. We’re going to continue to welcome the public, but for those (eliminated) services, we’re going to send them to the Leach.”
