West Fargo to show off its best in art and food
The work of longtime Pioneer photographer and West Fargo High School Hall of Famer Dave Samson along with a free tasting of West Fargo fare will be on display this week at City Hall.
The City is hosting a Taste of West Fargo Art Social from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, in the Grand Foyer at West Fargo City Hall.
The free, public event will feature Samson's favorite captures of nature throughout West Fargo and samples of food and drinks from West Fargo businesses, including Spitfire, Spicy Pie, Steep Me a Cup of Tea, Jimmy Johns, Flatland Brewery, Costco and West Fargo VFW Post 7564.
West Fargo Communications Specialist Ellen Rossow said the event combines the city's two signature West Fargo events, the holiday Arts Social and Taste of West Fargo, into one. Samson's photography will later be permanently installed in West Fargo City Hall alongside his many current photos already there.
A free-will donation will be collected during the event to benefit the Fargo Veterans Affairs Health Care System art therapy program.
Samson started his photography career working for the West Fargo Pioneer in 1981 as a part-time sports photographer covering the West Fargo Class A state champion Legion baseball team and eventually shot photos for all Midweek publications.
He moved to The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead in 2006 after it purchased the Pioneer in 2005 and now shoots photos for both publications. He has won numerous North Dakota Newspaper Association and Minnesota Newspaper Association awards including Photo of the Year, multiple times.
