Two injured after striking moose on Highway 81 near Manvel, N.D.

MANVEL, N.D. -- Multiple people were injured after the vehicle they were driving struck a moose Tuesday night on Highway 81, the Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

The crash occurred near the corner of 20th Street Northeast and Highway 81 near Manvel about 10:30 p.m.

Two people were injured in the crash and were transported to Altru hospital, Grand Forks County Lt. Gary Grove said Wednesday morning. The individuals suffered face and head injuries from broken glass and from the impact of striking the moose.

The moose flew over the top of the vehicle, smashing both the front and rear windows. The moose was killed on impact, Grove said.
