Man killed in crash near Galchutt identified
GALCHUTT, N.D. - A driver killed in a collision near here Monday morning, June 25, has been identified by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
Isaac Englestad, 22, Mooreton, N.D., was the driver of a 1996 Ford Mustang that collided with a pickup about 6:40 a.m. roughly 3½ miles west of Galchutt, the Highway Patrol reported Tuesday, June 26.
According to the Patrol report:
Stephen Hutcherson, 49, Walcott, N.D., was driving a 2012 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup southbound on Richland County Road 1, while Englestad was driving north on the same road.
Hutcherson was trying to turn east onto Richland County Road 8, when his vehicle turned into the northbound lane and hit the Mustang.
Englestad was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, the report said.
Hutcherson was not thrown from his vehicle, and he was treated for his injuries at the scene and released.
The Mustang came to rest in the east ditch, facing east, while the Dodge Ram came to rest in the northbound lane facing east.
The crash remains under investigation, the Highway Patrol reported.
Also responding to the crash were the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, Mooreton Ambulance and Mooreton Fire Department.
