FARGO — A Fargo woman faces felony charges of arson and preventing arrest after authorities say she started a fire in her apartment, causing an evacuation of the building.

At 9:17 p.m. Sunday, June 30, Fargo police were sent to the building and saw smoke coming from Tami Kay Anderson’s unit, according to documents filed Monday, July 1, in Cass County District Court.

Officers saw a fire in Anderson’s apartment and were able to take her into custody even though she resisted, court papers said. The building was evacuated after officers put out the fire.

A resident of the building told officers that Anderson had been arguing with her boyfriend, court papers said.

Anderson, 45, was being held Monday at the Cass County Jail. A phone message left for her attorney, Leah Rose Carlson, on Monday was not immediately returned.
