BISMARCK - A Bismarck attorney running for the North Dakota Supreme Court has asked for a rehearing after justices upheld disciplinary action taken against him.
Robert Bolinske Sr.'s petition for rehearing, dated April 3 and sent to reporters over the weekend, called the state Supreme Court's March 20 decision "disgraceful and intellectually dishonest." Bolinske, who once called himself a "brawler" on the campaign trail, warned he would take his case to the U.S. Supreme Court if necessary.
The North Dakota Supreme Court affirmed a disciplinary board decision to admonish Bolinkse for alleging members of the judiciary had worked to hide public records. He made the allegations against then-Justice Dale Sandstrom and his wife, South Central District Judge Gail Hagerty, during his failed 2016 bid for the state's highest court.
Bolinske is again running for a seat on the court this year in a challenge to Justice Lisa Fair McEvers.
