WEST FARGO – A driver fleeing police went through three metro area cities before the pursuit was called off in West Fargo due to safety concerns.
The chase began in Moorhead just after 11 a.m. Friday, July 20. About 15 minutes later, West Fargo police were notified that the vehicle was entering their city on Interstate 94, being pursued by Moorhead police, according to West Fargo Police Sgt. Pete Nielsen.
The vehicle exited the interstate at Sheyenne Street and turned north, where police tried unsuccessfully to stop it, Nielsen said.
The vehicle turned west on 13th Avenue West and into a housing development. From there, it turned back onto 13th Avenue West, this time headed east.
The vehicle then went off the road onto a sidewalk and into a construction zone. At that point, officers ended the pursuit out of concern for public safety, Nielsen said. No injuries were reported.
Nielsen said the vehicle was last seen in that area, heading south on Ninth Street East.
