WEST FARGO — A 37-year-old woman is charged with embezzling more than $80,000 from GMR Transport, the West Fargo trucking company where she worked.

Stephanie Jo Knuttila, of Fargo, faces a felony charge of theft in Cass County District Court. A warrant for her arrest was issued Friday, July 20.

Knuttila, who was authorized to issue checks to truckers hauling for various companies, allegedly deposited $54,352 into her own credit union account, court documents stated.

She's also accused of writing thousands of dollars worth of checks to her brother and an acquaintance who cashed checks for her brother. Her brother told investigators he received funds for doing repair work on Knuttila's car so she could get to work, payments he believed were authorized by GMR, court documents stated.

Police have asked prosecutors to consider charging Knuttila's brother for accepting the money, but court records do not show that charges have been filed against him.

In total, Knuttila is accused of embezzling $81,787 between June 2016 and February 2018, court documents stated. Court records do not list an attorney for her.
