Charges filed after fleeing vehicle takes out Fargo fire hydrant

FARGO — Fargo police arrested a man early Wednesday, Sept. 5, after a fleeing vehicle destroyed a fire hydrant in south Fargo.

According to a report released by Fargo police:

An officer tried to make a traffic stop around 3 a.m. in the area of 25th Street South near Interstate 94.

The driver fled at a high rate of speed and the officer did not pursue. Instead, the license plate number and description of the driver were noted.

The officer then drove in the direction of where the vehicle was last headed and encountered witnesses who said a vehicle had driven over a fire hydrant and fled the scene.

A short distance away, the officer found a vehicle stopped on the side of the road and a male matching a description of the fleeing suspect.

The man fled on foot but was caught after a short pursuit.

The suspect, identified by police as Terry Perry, 29, was taken to the Cass County Jail and later charged in Cass County District Court with reckless endangerment, fleeing a peace officer and preventing arrest.
