UPDATE: Fargo police identify man linked to downtown assault, theft

Fargo police have identified a man accused of assaulting a woman over the weekend in downtown Fargo, and they no longer need the public's help. As of 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, the man had not been charged with a crime. Police did not release the man's name.


FARGO — Police here are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man accused of assaulting a woman Sunday, Sept. 2, in downtown Fargo.

Between 1 and 3 a.m. that day, a woman left a downtown bar and the man followed her, assaulted her and stole some of her property, the Fargo Police Department said in a Facebook post.

Police released two surveillance images of the man dressed in a white shirt and hat. Anyone with information regarding his identity or the assault is asked to call police at 701-241-1405, text a tip to 701-730-8888 or call the tip line at 701-241-5777.
