GLYNDON, Minn. — A surveillance camera captured video of an intruder entering a home here and sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 5, according to documents filed in Clay County District Court.
A criminal complaint charging Dakota William Michael Moran, 26, of West Fargo, with second-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of first-degree burglary states that police were called to a home in Glyndon about 2:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7.
The victim's father told police he woke up to find Moran in his home, and Moran ran out of the front door when he shouted at him.
According to the complaint:
The home where the assault took place had a surveillance camera, and authorities reviewed footage that showed Moran entering the home and kneeling on the floor beside a sofa where the girl was sleeping.
The girl's parents recognized Moran on the recording because they had recently met him at a neighboring home.
The footage showed Moran placing his hand under a blanket covering the victim, and rubbing her genital area and buttocks, the complaint said.
Moran was arrested about 7 a.m. the same day after trying to hide from authorities in a field near U.S. Highway 10, the complaint said.
His bail was set at $50,000 with conditions or $75,000 without conditions. Court records did not list an attorney for Moran, who was being held Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the Clay County Jail.
