Moorhead man faces burglary charges for February home invasion
MOORHEAD — A Moorhead man is charged in Clay County District Court in connection with a burglary at a Moorhead residence in February.
Alberto St. Martin Lopez, 52, is charged with three counts of first-degree burglary, according to court documents filed Thursday, Oct. 12.
According to the court documents:
Moorhead police were dispatched to a reported burglary in south Moorhead early in the morning on Feb. 14.
A resident of the home told officers he and two other individuals were in his apartment when two men kicked in the door, court records show.
The victim told police both men covered their faces with bandanas and one of them brandished a gun.
The victim told police he and the assailant carrying a gun, later identified as Lopez, got into an altercation.
The altercation ended when one of the victim's acquaintances came out of the bedroom and stabbed Lopez with a "survival style" knife, court records show.
Both intruders then ran.
Police later responded to a call for medical assistance at a residence where there was a man who had been stabbed.
Lopez was located in a bathroom of the home with multiple stab wounds in the lower back.
A handgun was also recovered from the residence, court documents said.
One of Lopez's acquaintances told police he helped act as a getaway driver for Lopez and others involved in the burglary.
