West Fargo man gets jail time for crash that killed friend
FARGO — A 24-year-old man has been sentenced in connection with a fatal crash that killed a passenger in his car.
Levi Allmaras, of West Fargo, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of aggravated reckless driving. Cass County District Judge John Irby sentenced him Jan. 22 to a month in jail, according to court records.
On June 28, Allmaras was driving a car that collided with a van at an intersection, about 4 miles west of West Fargo, near Mapleton, N.D. The van passengers were treated for injuries that were not life-threatening.
Allmaras' friend Cameron Bolton, 22, of Fargo, was a passenger in the car and later died as a result of injuries from the crash. Bolton's parents, Sarah and Arlin Fisher, supported Allmaras in the wake of the crash.
"Yes, Levi was 100 percent at fault in the accident, but it could have happened to any of us," Arlin Fisher previously told The Forum.
Allmaras has told The Forum that the Fishers' support means a lot to him.
"It means everything. It has helped me from losing it," he said.
