FARGO — A man police arrested in May for climbing a hotel sign in south Fargo and jumping onto the hotel roof has been placed on two years of supervised probation.

Michael Barido, 27, with no permanent address, appeared Thursday, Aug. 29, in Cass County District Court where Judge Steven Marquart sentenced him on a felony charge of criminal trespass and a misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief.

Barido pleaded guilty to both charges at the sentencing hearing. He was given credit for having already spent 98 days in jail.

About 11 a.m. May 23, police were called to the Grand Inn, 3402 14th Ave. S., for a report of a man who was harassing patrons.

The man, later identified as Barido, climbed the hotel’s sign before jumping onto the roof and entering the hotel attic through a roof vent, police said shortly after the incident. Barido surrendered to police by 12:40 p.m.
