FARGO — The Fargo Police Department said investigators have learned of a person who may have direct knowledge of how Brenda Kartes died.
Kartes' skeletal remains were discovered near the Red River in south Fargo in August. She had been missing for more than a year and had last been seen leaving Centre Inc., a halfway house in Fargo, early on the afternoon of July 12, 2018. Police consider her death suspicious.
Police said in a Monday, Oct. 7, Facebook post that the person had shared specific details of Kartes' death with others. Police did not release the person's name. They also said that there may be other people with firsthand knowledge of Kartes' final hours.
Messages left with Fargo police seeking more details about the post were not returned Monday.
Police are asking anyone with knowledge of Brenda Kartes' final hours or death to reach out to authorities.
