WEST FARGO — A 45-year-old man accused of having sexual contact with a minor under the age of 15 was sentenced to five years behind bars on Tuesday, Oct. 8.
Casey Michael Redroad, of West Fargo, pleaded guilty to a felony count of sexual imposition by threat or coercion. And Cass County District Judge Tom Olson ordered him to spend five years in prison followed by five years of supervised probation.
Redroad was given credit for having already spent 139 days in jail. He will have to register as a sex offender.
According to charging documents, an 11-year-old girl told police she was sexually assaulted by Redroad, an acquaintance, and that the alleged incidents occurred over about a year and a half.
The victim told police the incidents included digital penetration of her vagina, court papers show.
Redroad told police he hugged the girl and that he might have squeezed her buttocks, but said he didn’t remember, court papers said.
Redroad was originally charged with one Class AA felony count of gross sexual imposition. He also faced four Class A felony counts of gross sexual imposition, one of which was amended to the Class B felony charge of sexual imposition to which Redroad pleaded guilty.
All the remaining charges were dismissed at Tuesday’s hearing.
