FARGO — Authorities have not made any arrests in a possible kidnapping despite finding the alleged kidnapper and victim hours after the incident was reported over the weekend.

The Cass County State's Attorney's Office is reviewing the case for any possible criminal charges, a Fargo police spokeswoman said.

On Saturday afternoon, Oct. 12, Fargo police were notified about a possible kidnapping. The police requested the public's help in finding 33-year-old Kristin Dawn Hettervig, who told her brother that she was kidnapped by her ex-boyfriend, Matthew Thomas Roy Hanson.

Hanson, 41, and Hettervig were both found safe about four hours later in rural Barnes County in eastern North Dakota.

Based on information provided at the time of the incident, "it appeared the victim may have been forced to leave her home against her will," according to a Facebook post from the Fargo Police Department.
