Local student graduates from Concordia
MOORHEAD — Brendan Klug, son of Dan and Connie Klug, West Fargo, graduated cum laude in finance from Concordia College during commencement exercises Sunday, May 5. A total of 437 students participated.
Thomes receives scholarship
BISMARCK — Allison Thomes, of Fargo, has been awarded the Ron and Ann Anstrom Scholarship for English, math or science instructors from the North Dakota United Foundation for the 2019-20 year.
Thomes will receive a cash award of $5,000 for her masters of arts degree in science education. The Ron and Ann Anstrom Scholarship Program is intended to assist individual English, math or science instructors to improve their qualifications by attending summer school or engaging in graduate level courses during the regular academic year, online courses or extension courses that are part of a graduate program.
Thomes graduated from North Dakota State in 2016 with her bachelor of science degree in biological sciences education and a minor in chemistry. She teaches biology and STEM science at West Fargo High School.
Lambert receives NDSU scholarship
FARGO — Mya Lambert, daughter of Matt and Rhonda Lambert, West Fargo, received the Freshman Academic Scholarship in the amount of $2,000 at North Dakota State University. The scholarship recognizes high academic achievement. Lambert will enter NDSU in the fall and plans to major in medical laboratory science.
Daub receives NDSU scholarship
FARGO — Madison Daub, daughter of Jason and Sara Daub, West Fargo, received the North Dakota State University Provost Award Scholarship in the amount of $6,000. The scholarship recognizes students who scored 25 to 28 on the ACT and exhibit high academic achievement.
Daub will enter NDSU in the fall and plans to major in psychology with a minor in pre-law. In high school, she was active in National Honor Society, track and field, Fuel Up to Play 60 and academic olympics.
Rolstad graduates from military training
U.S. Air Force National Guard Airman Alexandra L. Rolstad graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Rolstad earned distinction as an honor graduate. She is the daughter of Rachelle Rolstad, West Fargo and Glenn Rolstad, Horace, N.D. The airman is a 2019 graduate of West Fargo High School.
Rene receives scholarship
Evan Rene, son of Thomas Rene, Fargo, and Rachel Ibes Vig, West Fargo, received the North Dakota State University Provost Award Scholarship in the amount of $6,000. The scholarship recognizes students who scored 25 to 28 on the ACT and high academic achievement. Rene will enter NDSU in the fall and plans to major in finance with a minor in accounting.
NDU scholarship winners named
Local North Dakota United Foundation scholarship winners include: Benjamin Kensok, West Fargo, NDU education scholarship and Marissa Schuldheisz, West Fargo, NDU education scholarship. The NDU Foundation is an independent not-for-profit corporation, which receives funding from gifts from supporters of public education and public service in North Dakota.
