The North Dakota Council of Teachers of English (NDCTE) recently named Jake Snyder, a West Fargo High School English teacher, the recipient of the 2019 Linda S. Christenson Literary Scholarship.

Snyder was selected by the NDCTE board based on his nomination materials, which included a letter of support from Beatrice Hill, a fellow West Fargo High School English teacher. She reflected:

“The energy of a first-year teacher is always infectious within a school community, but Jake Snyder brings a unique passion to our profession. It is undeniable the Jake genuinely loves what he does. You see that passion when he communicates and interacts with his students and fellow staff members. He is a dedicated educator who is consistently reflecting on his teaching practices and his ability to hone his craft. He is an extremely kind person and has an unwavering commitment to his students and colleagues. Students and staff all benefit from his genuine love of teaching. Jake embodies the heart of what it means to be an effective teacher, which makes him most deserving of the Linda S. Christenson Literary Scholarship.”
